Fall down nine times, get up ten.” ― Japanese Proverb
Have you ever worked on something hour after hour day after day to only have it erased. Well, that recently happened to me. If you have been following the blog, you will know that I had a eBook set to release at the end of October.
You will also notice that didn’t happen and I haven’t posted much in the last month. I had a slew of things go wrong–or go right if you look at it from a cosmic universal perspective and all that. Nonetheless, they were challenges that I wasn’t really interested in dealing with.
First, I lost all of the latest changes that I had incorporated into my eBook and the introductory audio file that went along with it when my computer crashed. In addition to loosing the book and audio file, all of my email correspondence and everything else I had not backed up since September. Yes, it could have been a lot worse, but it was still frustrating. And on top of having to rebuild my computer, I was in quite a bit of pain from a back injury that I suffered in October. The odd thing about the injury was that there was no position that I could get comfortable in. Sitting. Standing and most painful for me was laying down; especially on my side.
It just seemed like I couldn’t catch a break. Taking care of myself, giving time to my son and my relationship, working, getting sick and being in pain was just too much. As they say, somethings gotta give and it was my blogging. Slowly over the last two months, things have improved and I am up to hitting the keyboard again.
Of course, I’ll have to redo a large section of the eBook and re-record the audio file (I may not do this), but like I said before, it could be worse. I am a positive person and know that all of this shall pass and IS passing. When I reflect on the past two months I am reminded of one of my favorite poems.
“DON’T QUIT” Author Unknown
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out–
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Hi, My name is Lisa. I am a mother, girlfriend, blogger, runner and happiness seeker.
I started blogging in March 2010 as a way for me to grow and help others by sharing what I learned.
My personal development journey began about 15 years ago.

You are a natural winner, Lisa. I have no doubt the Running Bear in you will come out Roaring better and stronger than ever. You are marvelously denying any “poor me” thinking in favor of enlightenment. You have taught your mind to serve you, not the counterfeit self. You are using your mind as the extraordinary tool that it’s meant to be. What better way could there be to become enlightened?
Glad you are back and on target!
Rob, thanks so much for comment. I could use all the support I can get right now. Thanks for the reminder about the Running Bear within. I am so happy to be back and amongst such inspirational people. See you on your blog. :-)
Hey Lisa,
Trust me, I know the feeling. I’ve been telling people everywhere (that will listen) that 2011 was a year of transition, trial, tribulation, and transformation. It literally gave me a lickin’. Fortunately for me I’m hardwired to keep tickin’. I know oposition is ever present when one determines to reach for a goal. The good news is that getting up after your knocked down is a good habit to make. Sounds like you did just that. Keep the great work flowing.
Hi Jermaine,
Love how you put that. 2011 also gave me a good lickin’. Fortunately I had some time off from work over the holiday to restore my sanity. I am back up tickin’ again. Thanks for the visit. Congratulations on the new blog.
Hi Lisa,
This is the first article I read on your blog. I discovered it through Justin’s blog. Your post’s title attracted my interest!
I am really sorry about what happened to you. I admire your courage and I wish you good luck for 2012.
Don’t quit is a perfect message itself :)
Thank you!
Hi Lenia,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, Justin’s blog is awesome. Thank you for your support. The end of 2011 presented me with challenges that threatened my sanity; however, I had two weeks off from work over the holidays in which I was able to pull myself out of the abyss. Thanks again. I wish you good luck for 2012 too. :-)
